Björk
does jazz. And it's good. Her voice
rings out like on no other album, with
all the shrieks and screams she's
known for. Here lies the definite
proof of her vocal prowess. None of
the electronic treatments of her other
work coat the music. Most of the songs
feature only voice, bass, drums, and
piano; the usual jazz quad arrangement.
Guðmundur Ingolfsson, on the
piano, did al the arrangement.
He was one of the world's best Jazz
pianists but as for many geniuses he
died in the peak of his career. This is
a must have music
Sigur
Rós, The modern Icelandic
Vikings If you're into
electronic music and lean towards more
original and less commercial, yet highly
listenable music, you need to check out
this group. And there is no better place
to start than this CD. Forget the
comments about "not all tracks are
good." The worst track on this album is
easily better than 90% of the music
produced in the last two decades.
Mezzoforte
In Spring 2008, five members of
Mezzoforte traveled to a remote summer cabin in
southern Iceland to start writing the
music that would eventually become
Volcanic, their first studio album in
over seven years. From
those tentative beginnings, surrounded
by the awesome power of nature,
the band has produced an album inspired
by their native land, but recorded
in various countries and studios around
the world.
